Suzani and Kantha: the art of thread and tradition

Born in the heart of Central Asia, Suzani and Kantha textiles are true celebrations of ancestral craftsmanship and the art of embroidery. Hang them, drape them, spread them out or reinvent their use: handcrafted textiles that bring character and life to any interior.

What is Suzani?

Suzani textiles are recognizable by their lush floral patterns, delicate arabesques and vibrant colors. Each creation tells a story and carries symbols of prosperity, fertility and protection. Traditionally, these embroideries adorned brides' endowments, testifying to the skill and care taken in textile making in the home.

Suzani in contemporary decoration

If Suzani textiles were once intended for wall hangings and bedspreads, they are now invited into modern and trendy creations. At Caravane, we cherish this ancestral art and give it a new life through exclusive pieces:

Why choose Suzani textiles?

Adopting a Suzani textile means choosing a refined and ethical decoration. These unique pieces, made using traditional methods, bring real added value to your interior. They embody a timeless aesthetic and a deep connection with the know-how of Central Asia. At Caravane, we celebrate and perpetuate this exceptional craftsmanship.

What is Kantha?

Kantha, the art of giving new life. To hang, drape, spread out or reinvent: handcrafted textiles that invite you to create a home full of life. An ancestral craft tradition dating back nearly a thousand years, Kantha is an integral part of India's cultural heritage and one of the country's oldest forms of embroidery. Born from a spirit of resourcefulness and ingenuity, Kantha involves layering several vintage saris and stitching them together using the traditional Kantha stitch — a simple running stitch worked in closely spaced, parallel rows. The repetition of this gesture gives the fabric its distinctive softly rippled, quilted texture, achieved without any added padding.
