Made from local, non-industrial and non-formatted earth, the lamp takes shape thanks to the demanding know-how and passion of a French craftsman. Achieving a 45 cm high foot is a real technical feat: at this scale, the earth becomes unstable and deforms, which requires perfect control of the gesture. The ceramist therefore had to work the clay with subtlety to create a piece that combines finesse, height, and stability. The irregularities bear witness to this work, which pushes the limits of the material.
Applied in successive layers, the ash glaze then brings a sensitive and poetic dimension. It reveals delicate textures and unexpected nuances, sometimes crossed with blue reflections. Finally, each ceramist accepts the surprises of firing, revealing the singularity and unique character of each lamp.
To accompany this collaboration, Caravane is showcasing two of its iconic lampshades: Baco and Léo .
Their presence is not limited to complementing the lamp: they extend its spirit, each in their own way.
The Baco, crafted from recycled paper made from abaca fibers, rests on a rattan and bamboo structure. Its organic material diffuses a soft, natural light, perfectly complementing the raw earth of the lamp's base.
The Léo , crafted from Nepalese paper, reveals a fine and airy texture. Its delicate transparencies offer a subdued glow that enhances the ash glaze and its unpredictable nuances.
