Cotton and silk plaid

History

The Katy plaid is a distant heir to the Ikat. It is a craft manufacturing technique. It consists of first dyeing the weft thread. Then, over the course of weaving, the design will appear by juxtaposition.

The composition is then revealed, both light and vibrant. The irregularities of this totally handmade weave amplify this vibration. The Katy plaid is precious because it is composed of noble materials: a radiant blend of silk and cotton. Voluptuous but light, the Kati plaid is ideal for mid-season.

The blanket is finished with light and delicate twisted fringes. A work that requires time, passion and above all a very particular know-how. The Katy blanket is made in the eastern part of India, where tribal producers of silk cocoons, thread makers and weavers play a major role in sustainable production.
